Uniform Requirements

The Kempsville Middle Brave Band uniform consists of the following items. The items marked with an * are to be provided by the student. Any student unable to obtain the required items must inform the director at least two weeks in advance, so that alternate arrangements may be made. All 8th grade band members will be issued a concert uniform in November. This uniform is to be worn for all concert and festival performances.

UNIFORMS FOR 7TH GRADE INTERMEDIATE AND 8TH GRADE BAND STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE TO BE IN MARCHING BAND WILL BE ISSUED IN SEPTEMBER.

THE ENSEMBLE FEE IS $25.00 for 7 TH GRADE (pep band students only) AND $35 FOR ALL 8 TH GRADE STUDENTS. MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO THE KMS BAND PARENTS ASSOCIATION (KMSBPA). PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR CHILD'S NAME IN THE MEMO SECTION OF YOUR CHECK.

Pep Band
Athletic zip-up jackets – Each student will be assigned a number and be responsible for returning the jacket clean at the end of football season.
* Pants- blue jeans (no holes or tears).
* White Shoes- Tennis shoes (some color is allowed, but please have them in good shape)
* White socks
* Plain white undershirt

8th Grade Concert Band, Festival Band and Jazz Band
Black dress pants for boys and skirts for girls
Blue brocade vest, bow tie and studs  (Jazz students use blue cumberbun and bowtie)
Black dress shoes
* Black socks for boys  and black hose for girls (not sheer). Knee highs are fine too.
* Plain white undershirt
Please refer to the handout that is sent home with this uniform for proper care and cleaning.

Pans of Steel
Flowered shirts (These will be assigned prior to each performance)
* Plain white undershirt
* Khaki (tan) shorts or skirts
* Flip flops or sandals

7th Grade Intermediate Band
In order to reflect the importance of a concert performance, it is requested that students in the intermediate and beginning bands wear appropriate concert attire.
Both boys and girls:
WHITE tops – Completely white, NO T-SHIRTS or sweats (DRESS CLOTHES)
BLACK bottoms- Completely black, with black socks/hose and black shoes
(No skater shoes or tennis shoes but DRESS SHOES)

Beginning and Intermediate 6th Grade Band and Beginning 7th Grade Band
In order to reflect the importance of a concert performance, it is requested that students in the intermediate and beginning bands wear appropriate concert attire. No specific colors are required, however; appropriate attire for these band members is:
GIRLS – SKIRT, DRESS OR APPROPRIATE DRESS PANTS
BOYS - TIE (COAT OR SWEATER OPTIONAL)

NO T-SHIRTS, JEANS OR SNEAKERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON STAGE. Please consider purchasing an inexpensive pair of dress shoes for your child to wear with their dress clothes.
