Daily Announcements:

Art Contest: The oceanfront Library is hosting an Art Contest. Students are asked to design and create the new renovated teen area. Interested students should stop by the Student Activities Office to pick up an informational packet. Proposals must be received by Friday, May 16th at 5:00 p.m.

Warm Up America Club:  The Warm Up America Club will be going on a field trip April 23rd to the nursing home that received our blankets. If you’d like to go, be sure to get a permission slip from Ms. Bowman or Ms. Simms before you leave for Spring Break.   Permission slips must be returned by Monday, April 21st. 

Ladies Club: The members of the Ladies Club will join the Gentlemen's Club for an event on
April 22nd. Ladies should meet in front of the Library. All members of the Ladies Club should see Ms. Douglas before leaving for Spring Break.

Field Hockey:  Congratulations to the KMS Field Hockey team who defeated Salem yesterday 4 - 0.  The girls dominated the entire game, shooting 13 short corners.   Riley T. scored 3 of the goals and Erin T. scored 1 goal.  The girls play Larkspur today at Kempsville at 5:00 p.m.  Come out and support the Lady Braves Field Hockey team.

The National Junior Honor Society will meet Tuesday, April 22nd at 8:30. All current and new members are expected to attend.​

Hey Braves! Have you seen the flyers! Did you get a slip telling you the page you are on in the yearbook! Yes, that's right yearbooks are still for sale at the price of $43.50. Grab a flyer or see Mrs. Bowles or Mrs. Matsushige to get yours now before the price goes up at the end of the year!

Now for a Cool Spring Break Event! There will be a Total Lunar Eclipse visible in North America. This is when the moon passes through the shadow of the Earth. Viewing times will be the night of Monday, April 14th and into the morning of April 15th.  The eclipse will be total for 1hour 18 min. Total eclipse begins: 3:07 a.m. on April 15. Total eclipse ends: 4:25 a.m.

SCA - Don't forget! SCA Election packets are due to the Guidance office today. You must have a completed packet to run for office!

Today concludes the SCA’s CHKD Reach Out and Read book drive! Your generosity will allow us to donate many books to CHKD, and touch the lives of countless children. One book can make a difference! Thank you so much, KMS!

The KMS Braves baseball team beat Larkspur 6-2 yesterday.  Fred R. pitched a great game with 11 strikeouts, and Cooper W. had 3 hits and 2 runs batted in. The team is tied for first place!  Way to go!

The Girls Track Team had a close meet against Corporate Landing yesterday, but the opponent was able to win with a score of 36 - 28.  The KMS girls scoring points were as follows:  Karrin P. had two 1st place runs in the 100 meter and 200 meter.  Cassie T. placed 1st in the mile and 2nd in the 800 meter.  Hannah R. earned a 1st in the long jump and 3rd in the 100 meter. Iyonna P. had a 2nd in the 200 meter and Kiara S. placed 3rd in the long jump. Great effort Lady Braves!

The Boys Track team ran against Corporate Landing Middle School yesterday. Scoring points for Kempsville were; Dasamir S. - 2nd place in the Long Jump, Mike J. - 2nd place in the 100 meter, Brent B. - 3rd place in the mile, Noah L.  - 3rd place in  400 meter, Good job Boys! See you after spring break!
