The 8th grade Writing SOLs have been postponed until March 17-19 due to losing 4 instructional days because of snow. For information about the 8th Grade Wrting SOL please download this study guide from the DOE.
Revised Sports Schedules
Spring Pictures: Spring pictures have been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 11th during PE classes. Those students who do not participate in PE will receive a picture pass with a designated picture time. Debate, Wrestling and Volleyball pictures will be taken on Friday, March 13th at 4:00 p.m.
Design Contest: Do you enjoy doodling or drawing? If so, the Tides baseball team needs your help. They are hosting a cover design contest for their game program and media guide. An informational flyer may be picked up outside of the Student Activities Office. Entries are due by March 13th.
8th Grade Lunch Book Club: The 8th Grade Lunch Book Club will meet today to get started on the Slated series. Members should stop by the Library to get a lunch pass if needed, and should bring their book to the meeting.
Operation Give Back: The Operation Give Back Club will meet next Wednesday, March 11th at 8:30 a.m. in the Chorus Room. See Mrs. Keipe in Guidance with any questions.
Yearbook Club: There will be a Yearbook Club meeting today and every Thursday after school! Members should plan to attend, as there are important deadlines coming up soon.
Track Team: There will be a brief informational meeting for all students interested in running on the KMS Track Team today. The meeting will take place at 4:00 p.m. in Portable D and will last for approximately 30 minutes. Students must have transportation home at 4:30 p.m. sharp!
Race to 100K Contest: Everyone who has turned in a submission form after reading a book has a chance to win a KMS Braves book light. There were three winners drawn today. Anyone who wants to be included in next week’s drawing should turn in a form for each book read.
Wrestling: The Braves Wrestling Team wrestled against Salem Wednesday night. The following wrestlers came up with big wins for the team: Ian L., Dekota G., Daniel F., David S., and Gavin R. The Braves’ next match is today against Brandon at home.
Debate: The KMS Debate team split their two matches last night with Brandon Middle School.
The "A" Team of Tori R. and Lelia B. lost a controversial match while the "B" Team of Noah F. and Alicia B. won. Both teams did extremely well and every team member contributed to last night's success. The third match in three days’ time will be held this evening.
Important proceedures for reporting absences
If your child is absent from school, please call the attendance mailbox at (757) 648-4700 then enter 1 70698 #.
Virginia Beach City Public School policy requires that in cases of all absences, students must present a written excuse from a parent/guardian to the school stating the reason, even if you have called in the absence. Your child will be marked OU (other unexcused) until we receive a written note.
