Athletic Physicals - Forms available at -

  • Thursday, August 27th  
  • Girls – 5 p.m.
  • Boys – 5:30 p.m.
  • $20 Cash only
  • Located in the gym

Every student must have the (Revised 4/13) VBCPS physical on file in the Student Activities Office in order to tryout for an athletic team or be involved with the intramural

Boys Soccer:

  • Monday, Aug. 31st – All grade levels
  • Tuesday, Sept. 1st  – All grade levels
  • Wednesday, Sept. 2nd  – call backs

Cheerleading Practice Begins:

  • Monday, Aug. 31st – Friday, Sept. 4th
  • Wear comfortable attire & bring a water bottle

One Act Play: 

  • Friday, Sept. 11th in the auditorium

Wednesday Reminders:  Today is an adjusted dismissal day.  Students will be dismissed at    1:30 p.m.  There will be no after school activities today.

Student Recognition:  The KMS faculty and the VBCPS Department of School Leadership would like to share a great achievement made this weekend by a Kempsville Middle School Student:    Sam C. is a member of Boy Scout Troop 490 in Virginia Beach, and this past weekend, Sam successfully completed his Eagle Board of Review. This is quite an achievement. Congratulations, Sam!

Cutest Contest:  Congratulations to Reggie Phelps, Mrs. Phelp’s fur baby, as the winner of the SCA’s Cutest Staff Pet Contest. Frank Brown, Padme Bowles, Astrid Garcia, and Grizzly Hewitt rounded up the top spots. Congratulations!

Library Closed:  The Library will be closed today from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  Teachers should not send any students to the Library during this time. Books may be returned to the blue bin by the Cafeteria.

SCA and Student Ambassadors:  The City Wide Meeting for the SCA Executive Council and Student Ambassadors will be next week on Tuesday, November 28th at Plaza Middle School. Students should meet in Room 108 after school and ride the bus to Plaza.  Parents should pick students up from KMS.  Those who plan to attend must sign up outside of Mr. Brown's Room 119.

Leadership Workshop:  Congratulations to the 2017 Leadership Workshop delegates!  Any delegate who has not picked up their packet should see Ms. Johnson in Room 108 today. There is important information with deadlines and meetings within the packet. 

Craft Fair:  The KMS PTA Winter Craft Fair will be held on December 9th.  The cost is $25 per spot with limited space.  Interested crafters, vendors, or artists should contact the PTA ASAP!

Military Appreciation Month:  November is Military Appreciation Month.  Staff and students are wearing purple today to show appreciation for all those who have served and who are currently serving in the various branches of the military and to thank them for their service. Staff may also wear jeans with their purple!
Today we recognize Mr. Keith Washburn in honor of Military Appreciation Month.  Mr. Washburn served in the United States Coast Guard for 6 years.  Mr. Washburn enjoyed working with different people from different places in order to achieve one goal. Mr. Washburn, thank you for your service!
