National Poetry Month: April is National Poetry Month. Here are some literacy tips for poetry. Poetry is an outlet for our emotions. It doesn’t matter what kind of emotion it is. Poetry helps us define it in our hearts and reminds us that these words are a reminder of our expressions towards others. Whether you write poems for her or love poems for him from the heart, being yourself is the most important thing.
The KNN-News Team is looking for enthusiastic and reliable students. Being a part of our news teams is an important position: the news is produced every morning with the support of two anchors and one production assistant. If you are an interested candidate, then please pick up an application outside the KNN Studio in the library or Mrs. Makowski's office. Applications are due back by Friday, May 5
KMS SCA: Election packets are available for students interested in running for an officer position in the KMS SCA for the 2017-2018 school year outside of Room 108. There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, May 3rd in Room 108 at 8:40 a.m. See Ms. Johnson in Room 108 with any questions.
Green Team: The KMS Green Team will be garden planting at school this Saturday morning from 9:00-12:00. Members are asked to bring some shovels, gloves and other gardening tools. We will meet in the bus loop parking area. See you then!
Spirit of Norfolk: All payments for the Spirit of Norfolk for 8th graders is due today to Mrs. Makowski. Stop by the Student Activities Office today with any questions.

Brave Catchers: This week’s Brave Catchers from Guidance are:
Softball: Congratulations to the Lady Braves on a 10-8 victory in extra innings against Lynnhaven yesterday. Kara C., Emily P., Alyssa C., Jai Lynn K., and Hannah R. all had multiple hits. Lily S. was the winning pitcher. Emily P., Lily S. and Alyssa C. all had big hits in the top of the eighth inning.
Baseball: The Kempsville Braves baseball team suffered a tough loss to Lynnhaven yesterday by a score of 4-3. The Braves held the lead early with a score of 3-0, but fell short in the final inning. Anthony Wood held the defense on 5 solid innings of pitching. Matt Lucus closed out the game with 2 solid innings of relief. On offense, Anthony Wood earned 1 RBI. Anthony Wood, Connor Gray and Cale Eidson each recorded hits for the Braves. The team’s next game is tonight vs. Salem Middle School.
