Upcoming Events for Student Activities

Constitution Week:  WHY WAS THE CONSTITUTION WRITTEN?  In 1787, Congress authorized delegates to gather in Philadelphia and recommend changes to the existing charter of government for the 13 states, the Articles of Confederation, which many Americans believed had created a weak, ineffective central government.  From the start of the convention, however, it became clear that the delegates were forming an entirely new form of government.  The delegates decided to write a new constitution.

Pay if Forward:  Have you ever heard expressions like “Pay it forward” or “Random acts of kindness”?  They mean to discover ways to brighten up someone's day or help our local community. Everyone is invited to the first PIF (Pay it Forward) meeting this Wednesday, September 20th in Room 117 after school.  We will brainstorm ways to help others, promote our ideas, and volunteer our time and efforts to help those who need it. See Ms. Trusz with any questions.

Hearing and Vision Screening:  7th grade hearing and vision screening is September 25th and 26th.  Students who wear glasses should be sure to bring them to the screening!

NJHS Officers:  There will be a meeting for NJHS officers today during lunch/CARE. Officers should ask their first block teach for their meeting pass.

NJHS Members: NJHS members are reminded to order their NJHS t-shirt.  Mrs. Yeager will collect money for orders this week.

PTA Membership Contest:  The KMS PTA is hosting a membership contest from September    15th-29th.  The A-Day homeroom with the most new and returning PTA members will receive doughnuts. There’s a winner at each grade level, so encourage your parents to join today!

Run Club:  Run Club will meet this Wednesday in Room 130 after school. Participants should bring clothes to run in, tennis shoes, and water.  Anyone who plans to join the Run Club should sign up outside of Room 130.

Reflections Contest:  The theme for this year’s Reflections contest is Within Reach. Entries are due by October 20th.  Original artwork, choreography, film, music, or photography may be submitted to the contest.

Boys Soccer:  The KMS boys' Soccer Team played in an exciting game last night against Corporate Landing.  At the end of regulation the score remained 0-0.  There was continued action on both ends of the field, with Alex S., Jonathan K., Dashaun T., Carson S. and Chase F. providing KMS with multiple scoring chances.  The game went into two overtimes with the score remaining deadlocked and the entire KMS defensive squad stopping foray after foray.  The game finally went to penalty kicks where Jacob B. really showed his mettle stopping two of five shots but KMS could not finish the deal and lost PKs 3-1.  Great effort gentlemen!

Girls Soccer:  The girls’ Soccer Team lost in a nailbiting match last night against Corporate Landing 5 to 4. Every time Corporate Landing scored, the Braves answered back with another goal. Sophia P. put away 2 goals off of a cross. Niahna V. and Nicole B. had the other two goals. Cameron B. had an awesome assist and Tyler S. played a smart game in the middle of the field. Congratulations ladies on a hard-fought match!
