Teacher of the Quarter: Congratulations to the following staff members for being selected as the Staff Member of the Quarter for the 2nd nine weeks: Ms. Houchins, Mrs. Chesson, Mr. Kamakaris, and Ms. Hewitt.
Dodgeball: Congratulations to all who participated in Wednesday’s Dodgeball Tournament. There were some amazing skills shown and everyone had a great time! The winning team was Glow Squad and the runner up was Shadow.
Student Ambassadors: All Student Ambassadors should stop by Ms. Johnson’s Room 108 today to get information about the SCA Half-Party.
SMILE: SMILE (Samantha Makes It A Little Easier) is a non-profit organization that was created in memory of Samantha Trost, a student who lost her battle against cancer. A 5K t-shirt design Art Contest is being held for their upcoming event. Entry forms are available outside the Student Activities Office and are due back by February 6th.
Academy Applications: All 8th graders who are applying for any Academy and Advanced Academic programs should return their application to Guidance no later than 3:50 p.m. on Monday, February 2nd. No late applications will be accepted.
Ignite Day: Ignite Day tickets are now available in the Guidance Office. Anyone who submitted a form or won a ticket from a social media site should stop by the Guidance Office to pick up their ticket by the end of the school day on Friday.
Volleyball, Wrestling, Debate: Anyone interested in trying out for the Wrestling, girls Volleyball, or the Debate teams should stop by the Student Activities Office for an informational flyer.
Beach Girls Rock: Beach Girls Rock will be held on February 7th at Salem High School. The theme is "My World, My Canvas”. Applications are available outside of the Student Activities Office and should be returned to the Guidance Office by February 2nd.

Important proceedures for reporting absences
If your child is absent from school, please call the attendance mailbox at (757) 648-4700 then enter 1 70698 #.
Virginia Beach City Public School policy requires that in cases of all absences, students must present a written excuse from a parent/guardian to the school stating the reason, even if you have called in the absence. Your child will be marked OU (other unexcused) until we receive a written note.
