AVID: AVID requires an application process in order to participate in the fun. Applications for AVID for the next school year will be available in Guidance, online and outside of Room 119 starting on Tuesday, February 2nd. All applications should be completed and returned to Guidance no later than Friday, February 19th. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED! See Mrs. Willey with any questions. Elementary Partnership: Do you enjoy working with younger students? Do you enjoy reading to students and being a mentor for them? Are you looking for a fun and fantastic way to volunteer your time? If so, we have just the opportunity for you! Kempsville Middle is excited to partner with Providence Elementary School next 9 weeks! We will be volunteering with students in grades 1-4 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 8:00AM. If you would like to participate, please see Mrs. Yeager in room 144 or Mrs. Spain in the Student Activities Office for an information sheet.
Girls on the Run: The deadline has been extended for any girls interested. See Mrs. Yeager in Room 144 for additional information. The registration deadline is Friday, February 5th.
Food Drive: The Super Bowl Can Drive Competition is on! Vote on who you think will win this Sunday’s Super Bowl Game by donating cans of food for the NJHS Canned Food Drive. Place your canned food donations in the boxes in the foyer marked with the emblem of your favorite Super bowl team Broncos or Panthers? Donate to vote!
Super Teacher Contest: Does your teacher go above and beyond to help students? Then consider nominating your teacher for the Virginia Lottery Super Teacher award. Help show our outstanding teachers how super-thankful we are for their hard work and nominate a Super Teacher today! Informational flyers are available outside of the student activities office.
Code KMS is looking for members. In Code KMS, you'll be introduced to computer programming from the ground up; learning some simple and powerful programming languages and developing skills that will prove useful in the modern age and beyond! No experience with computer programming is required. The club will start second semester after school in Lab 145 once a week. If you are interested please pick up an application from Ms. Caviness in the library or Ms. Spain, student activities. All applications are due back by Friday, February 12. We have a 20 member limit!
Parent Meeting: There will be a parent meeting for volleyball, wrestling and debate today at 6 p.m. in the auditorium
KMS Talent Show! Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10th after school. An informational flyer may be picked up outside the student activities office. Students that wish to audition, must register with Ms. Spain by Monday, Feb. 8th
Perfect Attendance: Congratulations to those students who received perfect attendance for the semester! You are being rewarded with a pizza lunch and a viewing of the movie, Goosebumps, Thursday, February 11th. You will receive a permission slip for the event today. The slip is due February 8th. Once again, congratulation on a job well done!
