Every student must have the (Revised 4/13) VBCPS physical on file in the Student Activities Office in order to tryout for an athletic team or be involved with the intramural

Boys Soccer:

  • Monday, Aug. 31st – All grade levels
  • Tuesday, Sept. 1st  – All grade levels
  • Wednesday, Sept. 2nd  – call backs

Cheerleading Practice Begins:

  • Monday, Aug. 31st – Friday, Sept. 4th
  • Wear comfortable attire & bring a water bottle

One Act Play: 

  • Friday, Sept. 11th in the auditorium

Football:

  • Tryouts begin Monday, August 31st  – Friday, Sept. 4th   
  • Meet in Large gym on first day
  • Wear shorts, t-shirt, crew socks & cleats/sneakers,

Girls Soccer:

  • Tryouts Monday, August 31st – Thursday, Sept. 3rd (all grade levels)

PTA Open House

  • Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at 6 p.m., Auditorium

Back to School Dance:

  • Friday, September 25th from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Tickets will be sold Tues. – Thursday of that week

Clubs & Activities:

  • A brochure will be sent home the first day of school

2016-2017 SOL Testing Schedule

6th Grade Math SOL Testing:  Today 6th grade students will be taking the math SOL.  The Library and the Science hall are closed.  Students should check to see where their classes have been relocated and should find an alternate route to relocated classes.

Football:  There will be a meeting for students and their parents who are interested in trying out for the Kempsville High Football team on June 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the KHS Auditorium.

NJHS:  Officer applications for new NJHS members are due to Mrs. Yeager by Tuesday, May 30th at 4:00 p.m.  Anyone who would like to run for office but has lost their packet should see Mrs. Yeager in Room 130.

Volleyball Camp:  Ocean Lakes High school is sponsoring a Volleyball Camp for boys and girls on July 10th-13th.  Anyone interested should stop by the Student Activities Office to pick up a registration form.

Providence Mentoring:  Any student who participated in Providence Mentoring this year should come to Mrs. Yeager's room on Wednesday, May 31st between 8:45-9:00 a.m.

Forensics and Debate Workshop:  First Colonial High school will be hosting a Forensics and Debate Workshop Monday, August 14th-Friday, August 18th.  Stop by the Student Activities Office for a registration flyer and additional information.

KHS Sports and Clubs:  Rising 9th graders attending Kempsville High School who are interested   in participating in sports or clubs should stop by the Student Activities Office to pick up an informational flyer.

KHS Physicals:  Kempsville High School will be holding physicals on Monday, June 12th at        4:30 p.m. in the Gym for $25.   Rising 9th graders who need a high school physical form should pick one up at the Student Activities Office.

Summer Book Program:  The KMS Library will again offer a Summer Book Checkout.  All rising 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to check out up to 10 books to enjoy over the summer holiday. A permission slip is necessary. Stop by the Library or Mrs. Makowski's office for more information.

Brave Catcher:  This week’s Brave Catcher is Hunter K.  Hunter and his buddy were walking down the hall, both carrying instruments.  When Hunter’s friend dropped his instrument and other belongings, Hunter stopped to help and even insisted on carrying both instruments, as he noticed his friend had his hands full.  Totally awesome!
