KMS Grading Policies Parent Feedback (click on link below)

Thank you for taking a moment to give us feedback on grading policies at Kempsville Middle School. Your responses will help us to make informed decisions regarding fair and equitable policies for students. Current grading guidelines can be found here: http://www.kempsvillems.vbschools.com/pages/parents/grading/

Parent Feedback Form

Green Team:  The KMS Green Team will hold their last meeting on Tuesday, May 22nd. We will look in on our garden and celebrate! Please bring food or drink to share.

Cheerleading:  Students interested in trying out for the 2018-19 KMS cheerleading squad should stop by the Student Activities Office to pick up a tryout packet.  Tryout packets are due back to  Mrs. Makowski by Friday, May 25th.

SOL Testing:  Next week starts SOL testing.  Students will need their charged Chromebook every day.  Anyone who has misplaced or lost their charger should see Mrs. Caviness or Mr. Duplain to buy a new one for $15.00.  All students are responsible for their device and will have to pay to replace it or the charger.

Summer Reading Program:  There are so many awesome summer reading programs available to KMS students! See Mrs. Sutterluety for more information about our KMS Summer Checkout, Sync, the free audiobook for teens, and the Virginia Beach Public Library’s incentive program.

Reading Program:  Reading is Fundamentally Delicious! Pick up a Reader’s Card from the KMS Library today. Read at least 150 minutes total this month and you will earn a Buy One Get One Free Chipotle bookmark. See Mrs. Sutterluety or Mrs. Sherman for more details.

SOL Terms:  Vocabulary matters! Knowing academic vocabulary improves reading comprehension and helps to communicate ideas. This is why we will review one SOL term per day. Today’s word is THEME which means the main subject of a movie or piece of writing.

Forensics:  The KMS Forensics team fought their way through wind, rain and flood to put on a great show at last night's season culminating tournament.  The Braves were led by third place finishes by Kaanan T. in Impromptu speaking, Jordyn F. in Extemporaneous Speaking, and City Champions Keara C. in Original Oratory and Genevieve T. in Humorous Dramatic speaking.  KMS   fell short of their goal of bringing home a team championship but had great efforts by the team as  a whole.  Recognition goes out to team members Marianna S., Tatem R., Sabrina B., Erica P., Calista B., Solana L., Christian T. and Piper R.  Thanks for a wonderful job this season!  We will have the end of the year gathering on Tuesday, May 21st in Room 127.  Let Coach Whitley know what you will be contributing as soon as possible.
