In the News
Beginning Monday, March 16, 2014, through May 22, 2015, dismissal will be at 4:14 p.m. Students will be marked absent from their last class if they leave school before 4:00 p.m
Forensics Team: Attention all actors, public speakers, performers and debaters, Forensics wants you! If you missed the Forensics Team auditions and are still interested in trying out, now is your chance! Anyone interested should come to Room 104 after school on Tuesday March 31st. No prior experience is necessary.
Operation Give Back: All Operation Give Back members who missed Wednesday's meeting should stop by Guidance to get papers for the next community service project.
Read to 100K Contest: Congratulations to this weeks’ winners of the KMS book lights:
6th Grade - Daniel B.
7th Grade - Isabella P.
8th Grade - Ayana J.
The winners should come to the Library to receive their prize. Remember everyone - keep turning in those reading forms and maybe you’ll be next week’s winner!
Intercom Repairs: Repairs are being made to the intercom system and hopefully the problem will be corrected soon. The announcements are delivered through a different system in the classrooms that have Promethean or Smart boards and the sound is usually fine, unlike the hallways, cafeteria, and gym. Thank you for your patience.
Peel Away Coupon Card: The final date for ordering a KMS Peel Away coupon card is next Friday, April 3rd. The Homeroom with the top sales will get a pizza party, and the runner up will get an ice cream party!
Seminar: Dynamite Sports will conduct an hour long seminar on "Guiding the College-Bound Athlete" on Monday, March 30th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kempsville High School Auditorium. All KMS students and their parents are invited to attend.
Important proceedures for reporting absences
If your child is absent from school, please call the attendance mailbox at (757) 648-4700 then enter 1 70698 #.
Virginia Beach City Public School policy requires that in cases of all absences, students must present a written excuse from a parent/guardian to the school stating the reason, even if you have called in the absence. Your child will be marked OU (other unexcused) until we receive a written note.
