Congratulations to the KMS STEM Robotics Team for their impressive showing at the 2014 STEM Robotics Competition. For six months, 27 dedicated students quietly worked after school to design, build and test 10 competition robots, making up five KMS teams. Four out of the five teams qualified for the semi-finals, and one of those four teams made it all the way to the championship match against Princess Anne High School. After an intense championship match, KMS fell just short of becoming the overall champions, finishing 2nd out of 136 teams made up of over 500 students. This is a monumental achievement as this is the first time in competition history that a middle school was able to compete for the overall championship. Special thanks to Mr. McKay for all his hard work and dedication to the Robotics Club. A huge thank you to Mr. Tunney for his dedication and commitment towards excellence! You are the best!!

Book Bags for Success:  All homerooms should now have their bags for the Book-"Bags" for Success SCA project.   The SCA is challenging each homeroom class to not only stuff their class bag, but make it overflow with supplies to insure that every Brave has what he/she may need for success this year!  Please support this awesome project and get busy bringing in those school supplies.

Soccer:  Good luck to our KMS Soccer Teams today as they take on Virginia Beach Middle.
The girls are away at Virginia Beach Middle and the boys will be here at KMS.  Both games are
at 5:00 p.m.  Come out and make some noise for our teams!

PTA Reflections contest

Every fall the KMS PTA sponsors the Reflections contest.  The Reflections program promotes and celebrates many forms of art.  The theme for this year is: The world would be a better place if….!  It’s up to you to use your talents and develop a piece of art through music, visual arts, photography, dance, literature and/or film production that is the BEST Interpretation of this theme. You can submit as many entries as you like, but you must be the sole author of the entry. Also remember to fill in a Student Entry Form for each entry. We hope that many of you will accept this challenge and have fun working on an entry for the contest. Entries are due October 13th.
